Rainbow Mermaids Win in Glorious Fashion
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids beat the Buffalo White Walkers, 5-4, at Atlantica. Northern Virginia second baseman Gerrie Bond earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Nick Cole picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-4. Ignacio Ayala was tagged with the loss. The 8th-place Rainbow Mermaids improved to 41-49.

Rob Brooks was the walk-off hero for Northern Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rainbow Mermaids pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Brooks. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
