Fur Traders Stymie Casper, Take 2-1 Win
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders scored a 2-1 win versus the Casper Ghosts at The Graveyard. Tacoma pitcher Bill Slaughter nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. In 6 innings, Slaughter surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Luke Fitzgerald closed the game out for Tacoma, earning his 19th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Tacoma, had it not been for Gadiel Fida, the 22-year old left fielder . Fida contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to put Tacoma up, 2-0.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Slaughter.
The Fur Traders saw their record improve to 40-45.
