Pierogis Win, Jackson goes 3-for-3
|
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis topped the Bethesda Atoms by the score of 10-5, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Kevin Jackson. Jackson was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Pierogis. Chris McGee picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-3. He struck out 4 in 5.1 innings. Earning his 3rd save for Squirrel Hill was Mike Davidson.
Squirrel Hill used the timely hitting of Martín Flores to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Pierogis ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Squirrel Hill manager Randy Stevens.
The 9th-place Pierogis are now 36-46, the Atoms 41-41.
