Atoms Get One-Run Win at Akron
Goodyear Hanger Dome was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Bethesda Atoms and the Akron Blimps.

The Bethesda Atoms topped the Akron Blimps, 7-6, with youngster Pepe Rodríguez playing a key role. Rodríguez was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Atoms in the win. The Atoms go to 41-38, putting them 4th in the Silver AA.

Rodríguez came through with some timely hitting for Bethesda. With the score 1-1 in the top of the fifth and no one down, Rodríguez hit a 1-2 slider for a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season made it 4-1, Bethesda.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Akron manager Jared Gilbert. "But we decided not to take it."
