Reese Delivers Walk-Off Win for Nationals
|
Gulf Coast got a terrific performance from pitcher Omar Bongo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ottawa Nationals. Ottawa won the Nationals Park contest, 3-2. Bongo was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Ottawa reliever Rusty Davis picked up the win to move to 5-2. Hugh Hudson suffered the loss. The losses continue to add up for Gulf Coast, which has now fallen 9 times in a row.
Ottawa won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With two outs and Hugh Hudson on the mound for Gulf Coast, center fielder Ed Reese hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Nationals fans to their feet.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Reese. "I like it."
