The Blimps had to overcome a fine effort from Gulf Coast pitcher Francisco Borges to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Mobile Home Park. Borges went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Akron reliever Jack Young picked up the win to move to 4-1. Luis Valdés suffered the loss. The slumping Turbeaus have dropped 8 in a row.

Akron used the timely hitting of Salvador Berrocal to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Blimps on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Chua-kah Liu.
