Whales Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The Virginia Beach Whales took Ottawa pitcher Kyuichi Ozawa's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Virginia Beach Grounds. The final score had Virginia Beach getting past the Nationals, 3-2. Ozawa went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 9. Virginia Beach is now 44-28, 4 games up in the Silver AA.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the 12th, Daniel MacKinder had a chance to end it. Ottawa pitcher Jonathan Campbell had other ideas. But with one out, MacKinder hit a walk-off run-scoring double. The Whales had the win.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," MacKinder said.
