Victory Pushes Blimps Record to 37-31
|
The Akron Blimps bested the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 6-3, at Goodyear Hanger Dome. Takahashi Yano was named player of the game. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Akron reliever Jack Young picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Pepe Fontirroig was saddled with the loss. Akron is third in the Silver AA with a record of 37-31.
Making an impact for the home team was Alohinani Puanani. In the bottom of the fourth, the 22-year old center fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 5-3, Blimps.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Yano.
