Whales Fall Short, 7-6, at Squirrel Hill
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ed Tinker, the Squirrel Hill Pierogis defeated the Virginia Beach Whales, 7-6. Tinker was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Pierogis. Carlos Guerrero was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The Pierogis are now 25-37, while the Whales fall to 36-26.
The Pierogis grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With two out, Adam Cunningham, who is tied for 4th in the SAA in home runs with 14, hit a 2-run home run off Daryl Benstead, putting Squirrel Hill in front, 3-0. For Cunningham, it was his 14th home run of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Cunningham.
