Atoms Topple Nationals with Late Rally
|
The Ottawa Nationals got a superb performance from pitcher Motka Vidyasov, but the Bethesda Atoms still won the game, 3-1. Vidyasov was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Raúl Villegas picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Tony Cowan was tagged with the loss. Alco Roelofs was credited with the save for Bethesda, his 10th of the season.
Bethesda relied on the hitting of Russ Boucher to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Atoms on top, 2-1. For the game, Boucher had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Bethesda manager Wilber Moon said.
The Atoms raised their record to 32-27.
