Fur Traders Come Up Short at Squirrel Hill
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis did just enough to sneak past the Tacoma Fur Traders, 2-1, at Field of the Rawhides. Squirrel Hill pitcher Jeremy Harness earned player of the game honors. Harness, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Carlos Guerrero converted his 1st save in 1 tries.

Kennet Knoppert dealt the Fur Traders a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Squirrel Hill leading 1-0, Knoppert hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Squirrel Hill manager Randy Stevens said.

The last-place Pierogis improved to 23-34.
