Melvin Thomas exploded for a barrage of base hits today at The Cattle Pen.

The Charleston third baseman had a field day in the 7-5 triumph over the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, finishing 5-for-5.

"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."

Thomas must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Melvin Thomas singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

So far this year Thomas has hit .436 with no home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
