Field of the Krewe was the site for USSL Double A action featuring the Crescent City Krewe and Squirrel Hill Pierogis.
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis topped the Crescent City Krewe, 10-6, at Field of the Krewe. Squirrel Hill third baseman Cristo López earned player of the game honors. He banged out 2 singles and 1 double, while driving in 3 runs. Squirrel Hill reliever Chris McGee got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Kuniyuki Sugimoto was tagged with the loss.
Squirrel Hill used the timely hitting of David Ferris to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Pierogis on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Randy Stevens.
Squirrel Hill's record now stands at 20-23, placing them 8th in the Silver AA.
