Turbeaus Score Late to Upend Guinea Pigs, 2-0
|
The Gulf Coast Turbeaus topped the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 2-0, in USSL Double A action at Experimental Stadium. The player of the game was Gulf Coast pitcher Omar Bongo. The win was Stephen McQueen's in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Noah Walker took the loss for Gwinnett. Luis Valdés recorded the save for Gulf Coast, his 13th of the season.
Gulf Coast used a timely hit from Emílio Vivas to get the win. The left fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Turbeaus on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Vivas told the Gulf Coast Observer.
Gulf Coast, now 20-23, holds 8th place in the Silver AA.
