Squirrel Hill Pierogis starter Todd Hunter was in fine form against the Gulf Coast Turbeaus at Field of the Rawhides, leading his team to a 6-3 win. Edward Swetnam sewed up the save, his 4th. The Pierogis saw their record improve to 18-22.
In the bottom of the first, Squirrel Hill catcher Ed Tinker had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Tinker stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 4-0, Squirrel Hill. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Squirrel Hill manager Randy Stevens.
