Whales Fall Short, 7-6, at Crescent City
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Todd Walker, the Virginia Beach Whales suffered a 7-6 loss to the Crescent City Krewe. Walker went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Crescent City reliever Chris Floyd picked up the win to move to 3-1. Jack Elvidge suffered the loss. Paul Thomas picked up the save for Crescent City, his 6th of the year.

Alan Shepherd drove in 2 runs for Crescent City. In the bottom of the sixth, with the teams deadlocked, 6-6, Shepherd delivered for the Krewe. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Crescent City on top, 7-6.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Shepherd said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

Crescent City's record now stands at 20-19, placing them 5th in the Silver AA.
