Nationals Win in Extras
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
The Ottawa Nationals picked up a win at Nationals Park, knocking off the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 6-5. Starting pitcher Manu Jortikka, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Ottawa reliever Edgar Morales picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Francisco Díaz shouldered the loss.
Late in the game, center fielder Ed Reese had a big at-bat for Ottawa. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single off Francisco Díaz. The play gave the Nationals a 6-5 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Jortikka.
Ottawa, at 21-17, sits in third place in the Silver AA.
