Fur Traders Win Thriller, 5-4
|
Tacoma overcame a superlative game from Pacho Hernández to beat Bethesda, 5-4. The Bethesda pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win was credited to Ron Blackshaw in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Scott Alexander took the loss. The 'W' lifts Tacoma's record to 14-24.
The Fur Traders were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Bari bin Sayyid turned a first pitch fastball from Scott Alexander into a 2-run double. The walk-off double sent a roar through the crowd and gave Tacoma a thrilling 5-4 win.
"Exhilarating win," said bin Sayyid.
