Tight Tilt Goes to Turbeaus, 4-3
|
In a tight contest at Goodyear Hanger Dome, the Gulf Coast Turbeaus edged the Akron Blimps by the score of 4-3. Gulf Coast first baseman Royce Rolls, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Francisco Borges picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 1-4. Luis Valdés closed the game out for Gulf Coast, earning his 11th save.
Gulf Coast used the clutch hitting of Vance Lee to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to give the Turbeaus the lead, 3-1. For the game, Lee had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We found a way to get it done," Lee said.
The 7th-place Turbeaus lifted their record to 18-20.
