The Marquette Miners defeated the Lancaster Farmers, 4-1, in M3L Double A action at Marquette Stadium, with Marquette left fielder Fernan Espinoza named player of the game. Herman Griffin, the winner, improved to 8-0. He held the Farmers to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Jeff Moore earned his 22nd save in 25 chances.
Marquette designated hitter Héctor Solís contributed to the cause with a single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Solís went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Marquette skipper Christos Galpin. "I can't complain."
The last-place Farmers have dropped 5 straight games.
