The Asheville Highlanders defeated the Lancaster Farmers, 4-2, in M3L Double A action at Farmers Field, with Asheville pitcher John Boyd named player of the game. Kamiel Wabeke earned his 18th save in 23 chances. The Highlanders bumped their record to 49-47 with this latest triumph.

Asheville used the timely hitting of Lane Ruffin to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Highlanders ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Boyd. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
