Hops Get One-Run Win at Barton Springs
|
Barton Springs first baseman Ben Chell had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Chell was 2-4 with a home run, even as Yakima beat the Blues, 3-2. Chell was named the player of the game despite the loss. Yakima reliever William Stevens was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Jaime Chávez took the loss. Yakima is now 57-38, 4 games up in the Menard's AA.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the sixth inning. Facing Barton Springs hurler Jaime Chávez, Millard Morris, who is tied for 6th in the 3AA in home runs with 17, reached on an error by the 2B. The Hops went on to win.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Alonso Cruz.
