Rainbow Mermaids Topple Shredders with Late Rally
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids scored a 7-6 win versus the Hollywood Shredders at Atlantica. Northern Virginia shortstop Bill Dixon nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. The win was credited to Nick Cole in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Larry Benítez took the loss. Northern Virginia is now 37-46.

Tony Goodwin, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in doubles with 26, aided the Northern Virginia cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder went 3 for 5 with 3 singles.
