Finley Excels, Billings Blows Out Barton Springs
|
The Barton Springs Blues and Billings Polar Bears brought some excitement to Blues Field.
The Billings Polar Bears easily defeated the Barton Springs Blues, 15-3, at Blues Field, with right fielder Oscar Finley a main contributor to the win. He went 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for Billings. Yuto Inugami, who went 8.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 4-1.
It could have been a different outcome for Billings, had it not been for Kelvin Schmidt, the 24-year old first baseman . Schmidt contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Billings up, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Finley told the Billings Chronicle.
The win puts the Polar Bears at 47-38, while the Blues drop to 47-38.
