Hops Roll to 8-3 Win Over Farmers
|
Eugene Walker did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Lancaster Farmers from losing, 8-3, to the Yakima Hops at Farmers Field. Walker went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Timo Noordam got the win, improving to 7-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Yakima leads the Menard's AA by 4˝ games.
Eldon Broadus had a big run-scoring double for the Hops in the top of the second inning. With Yakima leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Javier Gallardo and stroked the double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hops ahead, 3-0.
Despite the victory, Broadus was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
