Multi-HR Game for Schmidt in 10-7 Win
Billings first baseman Kelvin Schmidt was instrumental in his team's 10-7 win over the Marquette Miners. Schmidt went 4-4 with 4 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Polar Bears. The winner was Austin Cunningham, who threw 81 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 3 hits. The third-place Polar Bears improved to 45-37.

The Miners had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Polar Bears going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Pleun Vleugel came to the plate. Vleugel hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 sinker from Marquette hurler Jerry Cherry. It was Vleugel's 11th double of the year.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Schmidt told the Billings Chronicle.
