Highlanders Fall Short, 4-3, at Barton Springs
The Barton Springs Blues eked out a 4-3 win versus the Asheville Highlanders at Blues Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Mario Gonzáles, who captured player of the game honors. The Blues bumped their record to 45-36 with this latest triumph.

The Highlanders had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Blues going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Denny Wolfe came to the plate. Wolfe hit a run-scoring single on a 0-1 cutter from Asheville hurler Pat Butler. It was Wolfe's 51st hit of the year.

"This is not a one-man show," said Gonzáles. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
