Rainbow Mermaids Lose to Coeur, 7-4
|
Northern Virginia second baseman Gerrie Bond had a good game, even if his team did not. The Rainbow Mermaids dropped a 7-4 decision to St. Louis at The BFIB. Bond went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Valentin Calhamar got the win, improving to 6-7. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 0. James Callendar was called on to finish, recording his 18th save.
The Coeur grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two out, Mark Toope, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in bases on balls with 50, hit a 2-run home run off Ricardo García, putting St. Louis in front, 4-3. For Toope, it was his 1st home run of the season.
"We'll try to build on that win," Toope told the St. Louis Observer.
St. Louis now sits at 48-33, while Northern Virginia falls to 36-45.
