Loons Come Back Late to Top Blue Sox

The Loons had to overcome a fine effort from Irving pitcher Jimmy Evans to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Blue Sox Ballpark. Evans went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Steve Smith, credited with the win, is now 3-3. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Minnesota, at 35-37, sits in 8th place in the Menard's AA.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Jeff Hershberger, hit a double. It helped Minnesota seize the win.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Hershberger told the Minnesota Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."
