Highlanders Pin 7-3 Loss on Miners
|
Starting pitcher Pat Butler pitched well enough to help the Asheville Highlanders beat the Marquette Miners by the score of 7-3. Butler picked up the win for Asheville, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 2-0. Asheville is now 33-31.
Asheville used the timely hitting of Joe Frank to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Highlanders on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Asheville manager William Franklin.
