Victory Pushes Highlanders Record to 31-30
|
Pitcher Pat Butler was sensational for the Asheville Highlanders in his team's 8-1 triumph over the Richland Rails. Butler received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The winning pitcher was Butler, now 1-0. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Their 31-30 record puts the Highlanders 6th in the Menard's AA.
Jesús Bonilla had a big run-scoring double for the Highlanders in the bottom of the second inning. With Asheville leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Dave Stafford and stroked the double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Highlanders ahead, 2-0.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Bonilla.
