Late Rally by Love Boats Secures Win
|
The Love Boats had to overcome a fine effort from Yakima pitcher Stewart Telfer to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Hops Park. Telfer went 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. Lake Minnetonka reliever Jayden Fairhead picked up the win to move to 2-1. Foster McCoy suffered the loss. Petr Elfimov earned the save for Lake Minnetonka, his 12th.
Lake Minnetonka used the timely hitting of Jose Asuncion to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Love Boats ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"I know we have our doubters," said Yakima manager Phillip Tinker. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The 'W' lifts Lake Minnetonka's record to 24-36.
