Farmers Squelch Rails Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Lancaster Farmers faced a tough opponent in Richland pitcher Vincent Higgins, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Rails Ballpark by a final score of 5-0. Higgins went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. Rich Conklin picked up the save, his 1st. The last-place Farmers raised their record to 22-37.
Lancaster used the timely hitting of Jesús Odilia to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Farmers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Odilia told the Lancaster News.
