Multi-HR Game for Thomas in 7-4 Win
|
Toledo second baseman Mark Thomas made his presence felt in the 7-4 Saboteurs triumph over the Billings Polar Bears. Thomas belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Hakumele Apelama got the win, improving to 5-4. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Augusto Jaramillo picked up the save, his 16th.
One important at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the top of the eighth inning. Facing Billings hurler Tim Shreeve, Xie-li Shiu, who is tied for 4th in the 3AA with a .405 on-base percentage, drew a walk. The Saboteurs went on to win.
"We'll try to build on that win," Thomas told the Toledo Daily.
The win puts the Saboteurs at 30-28, while the Polar Bears drop to 30-28.
