Blues Turn Back Marquette, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Barton Springs Blues and the Marquette Miners, Mario Gonzáles was the difference-maker. The Barton Springs right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 win. Walton Gibbs was credited with the save for Barton Springs, his 13th of the season. With the win, the Blues improved to 28-24.
Barton Springs used the timely hitting of John Gaudet to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blues on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Gonzáles told the Barton Springs Herald.
