Blues Hang 5-1 Loss on Rails
|
The Barton Springs Blues topped the Richland Rails, 5-1, in M3L Double A action at Blues Field. The player of the game was Barton Springs pitcher and Staten Island, New York native Steve Denton. Denton went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-2. The Blues saw their win-loss record go to 25-23. At the same time, the Rails fell to 28-20.
The Rails had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Blues going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old center fielder Donald Martin came to the plate. Martin hit a 2-run single on a 0-2 slider from Richland hurler Brad Coker. It was Martin's 19th hit of the year.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Denton, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
