Rails Roll to 8-3 Win Over Blues
|
The Richland Rails defeated the Barton Springs Blues, 8-3, at Blues Field today. Leading the charge for Richland was second baseman Greg Howard. He went 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Tim Smith, credited with the win, is now 4-2. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. The first-place Rails have a one-game lead in their division.
It could have been a different outcome for Richland, had it not been for Nelson Moore, the 21-year old third baseman . Moore contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the sixth inning to put Richland up, 4-3.
"I like to lead by example," said Moore. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
