Blue Sox Take Down Polar Bears, 4-1
|
The Irving Blue Sox picked up a win at Blue Sox Ballpark, knocking off the Billings Polar Bears, 4-1. Starting pitcher Jeff Davis, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Davis picked up the win for Irving, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-4. Christopher Tracy closed the door for Irving, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
The Blue Sox got a lift from designated hitter Dan Webb who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning off Tim Shreeve. It was his 5th RBI of the season and put Irving in front, 2-1.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Irving manager Dave Lee.
The Blue Sox, at 19-23, sit in 9th place in the Menard's AA.
