Squirrel Monkeys Solve Warriors, 5-3
|
Syracuse right-hander Richard Arnie made an effective start against the Forest City Warriors at The Zoo in Syracuse, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Arnie went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 4-0. Earning his 20th save of the year was Fernando Mora.
Lorenzo Varela had a big 2-run double for the Squirrel Monkeys in the bottom of the first inning. With Syracuse leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Forest Bell and stroked the double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Varela.
The first-place Squirrel Monkeys have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
