Asheville and Billings met at The Igloo in front of a lively crowd.

Asheville starter Rubén Santana put a stranglehold on the Billings offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Highlanders to a 6-1 win. Jesús Gordini nailed down his 1st save.

Asheville needed the clutch hitting of Lane Ruffin to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Highlanders on top, 5-1. For the game, Ruffin had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Highlanders manager William Franklin, "I like our chances."

Asheville is now 17-16, Billings 19-14.
