It was a good time at The Igloo, where fans came to watch the Asheville Highlanders and Billings Polar Bears get after it.
John Boyd pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Asheville Highlanders, despite Boyd's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo. The save went to António Gallegos, his 6th this season.
Shalom Gestel made an early impact for Billings when he stroked his 38th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which came with no one out in the bottom of the third, put the Polar Bears on top, 2-0.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gestel told reporters after the game.
Their 19-12 record puts the Polar Bears second in the Menard's AA.
