A nice crowd turned out to see the Pawnee ParksNRec and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys clash at The Zoo in Syracuse.
The Pawnee ParksNRec beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 11-3, at The Zoo in Syracuse. The ParksNRec got a fine performance from designated hitter Sam Bickerton, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 3 walks. He scored 3 runs. Octavius Pringle, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 6-4.
Pawnee used the timely hitting of Josh Mawdesley to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the ParksNRec on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Feels good to get the job done," Mawdesley said after the game.
The Squirrel Monkeys, now 66-32, have lost 5 in a row.
