In a tight game between the Asheville Highlanders and the Lancaster Farmers, pitcher Claudio Ortega was terrific on the mound. The Asheville right-hander was named the player of the game in Asheville's 3-1 win. At 13-14, the Highlanders are currently 7th in the Menard's AA.
Wendell Palmer had the most critical at-bat for Asheville. With two in the top of the 11th inning, Palmer hit a first pitch slider from Will Parker for a 2-run single. It put Asheville in front, 3-1.
Palmer told the Asheville Gazette: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
