Monsters Score Late to Upend Warriors, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Monongahela Monsters and the Forest City Warriors, Thomas Careless was the difference-maker. The Monongahela right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 win. Monongahela reliever Robert Erickson picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-2. Vicente López was collared with the loss. Monongahela is now 47-46, while Forest City is 44-49.
Monongahela used a timely hit from Colt Allen to get the win. The center fielder delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Monsters on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Monsters," said Careless.
