Squirrel Monkeys Hang 7-2 Loss on Dodos
|
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys stymied the Hialeah Dodos, 7-2, at Dodos Ballpark. Dewitt Hopper, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Syracuse. Robert Smith earned the save, his 1st, for the Squirrel Monkeys. Syracuse has an impressive 63-26 record.
Syracuse designated hitter Eddie Sachs contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a forkball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 52nd hit of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 2-0.
"We looked pretty good up and down," said Syracuse manager Todd Hill.
