Battery Edge Patriots, 16-15
|
The Charleston Battery had to overcome a big game from Boston first baseman Juan Andrés Martí to leave Charleston Armory with a 16-15 victory. Martí went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 4 walks. He scored 4 times and drove in 2. Charleston is now 32-39, while Boston is 45-26.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Charleston right fielder Mariano Juderías, facing Jelexiz Verano, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Battery the 16-15 win.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Boston manager Tyler Carter. "But we decided not to take it."
