Rainbow Mermaids Come Back Late, Nip 84s
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids relied on the hitting of second baseman Bill Dixon to stop the Greenville 84s, 4-3. For the game, Dixon was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Northern Virginia reliever Matsuta Kikuchi, now 4-3. The loser was Derek May. The Rainbow Mermaids now have a record of 31-40.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Dixon delivered big-time for Northern Virginia, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Derek May. The game-changing hit put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 4-3.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Dixon.
