Richland rode a decent outing from starter Tim Smith to victory over the Asheville Highlanders at Rails Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Miguel Bruno picked up the save, his 2nd. Richland, now 5-2, has played well in the early going.

The Rails got a big at-bat from center fielder Gavin Okel. For the game, Okel went 1 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Richland a 3-0 lead.
