Nashville right-hander Firpo Marberry was sensational in shutting out the Detroit Elite, 3-0. In 5 innings, Marberry surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed no runs.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the bottom of the third inning, but Marberry was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and Detroit trailing 2-0, Marberry retired Jack McCusker, who flied out.
