Lakers Come Back Late to Clip Pandas
|
The Echo Park Lakers beat the Montana Pandas, 5-3, at Panda Park. The Lakers got a fine performance from first baseman Joe Schreibvogel, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Echo Park reliever Jorge Villanueva was credited with the win, to go to 3-2. Tom Warrawong took the loss for Montana. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Echo Park.
Echo Park used the timely hitting of Joe Mueller to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lakers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Mueller told a Echo Park Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
